My guest on this episode is just down the Texan road from me, Hal Rose.
Hal first hunted South Africa back in 1994 and only returned some twenty years later. Well, as Hal will re-tell, the African bug bit him harder on his second trip and since then he has planned on returning to hunt this beautiful land every year since.
Hal shares some great stories across his 3 trips to South Africa, from Kwa-Zulu Natal, to Limpopo and down to the Eastern Cape. He also shares some great advice for those new hunters, looking at hunting Africa.
If you would like to reach out to Hal and talk about hunting or maybe even get some feedback on an outfitter you are looking at, then you can reach him via email on: halrose01@gmail.com
Hey, do me a favor? If you are enjoying these episodes, then please leave a 5* rating and review on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. It don't cost anything and only takes 2 seconds.

For many hunters the country of Mozambique is usually reserved for their 5th, 6th or 7th hunting trip to Africa...and for good reason! Mozambique is without a doubt a wild wild place, and to be called truly wild in Africa is saying a lot. The hunting is hard, the animals are fierce and if they don't kill you, then either the malaria or Tsetse flies will.....or the land mines will. You get my point, it's a wild place.
Well, my guest for today's episode decided that Mozambique would be his first port of call into his hunting Africa journey and by the sounds of his stories, it was an incredible decision to make.
Sit back, grab a cold one and enjoy this episode as Samir shares some stories from his adventure of hunting in Mozambique.

Ep 108: 2 Buffalo Hunting Stories
Thursday Jan 08, 2026
Thursday Jan 08, 2026
I put out a call on social media for some hunting stories and by goodness did the hunting community respond.
This weeks episode I give a brief bit of advice for those heading to the hunting shows in the US and frankly, anyone else that may be planning a trip to Africa. Then I jump straight into two fantastic hunting stories shared by Ron and Michael from the US, who so kindly took up the call for hunting stories and decided to share their experience of hunting in Africa.
Enjoy!

Ep 107: Peyton & Roan - My First Deer
Sunday Dec 28, 2025
Sunday Dec 28, 2025
This past hunting season here in Texas has been extra special for the family, for many different reasons. The most significant for me was achieving a life long dream of helping my kids hunt their first animals.
I thought what a fitting way to celebrate their first success and official designation as hunters, than to bring them onto the podcast as guests and have them share their story of how they hunted their first deer here in Texas, with the listeners.
Enjoy the episode everyone and all the very best for 2026.

Ep 106: SA vs Texas - Prepping For A Hunt
Thursday Dec 18, 2025
Thursday Dec 18, 2025
I have run hunts in Africa and I have run hunts in Texas. One would assume they are the same, but in reality they are vastly different.
In this episode, I share some insight into what it was like prepping for a hunt here in Texas versus how we would prepare for a hunt back in South Africa. I talk about the new aspects of hunting in Texas I had to learn, such as blind and feeder placement, the correct judging of Whitetail age and how to go to war with wasps!
Enjoy and Merry Christmas to you all.

A little different episode today for you folks, but one I am sure you will enjoy none the less.
I was recently a guest on Cable Smith's podcast The Lone Star Outdoor Show, where talked of course everything hunting related, but also a small project I had been working on with a few buddies of mine.
Enjoy and remember to rate and review the podcast.

Ep 104: Travis Barnes - Taking My Daughters To Hunt In Africa
Thursday Nov 13, 2025
Thursday Nov 13, 2025
I really enjoyed having a chat with Travis from Georgia on this episode, for two reasons. The first being, he hunted in the same area of South Africa where I had hunted many times with clients and also a youngster. So it was great hearing the perspective of another hunter about an area I hold closely.
The second reason being, Travis took his two daughters with him on his first African safari and by the sounds of his stories and the admiration coming from him as a father, those girls had a literal blast.
I hope you enjoy this episode and if you do, then take a couple seconds to leave a rating and review. Much appreciated!
If you would like to reach out to Travis to ask him any questions about his trip, then you can do so right here: travisb302@yahoo.com

Ep 103: Complain The Right Way
Thursday Nov 06, 2025
Thursday Nov 06, 2025
**NOTE** The audio is a little fuzzy at the start of the episode, give it some time as it does come right. I was using my mobile speaker on the ranch and got a little static from it.
Everyone hopes and expects their dream hunting safari to run smoothly. The client expects it, the outfitter hopes for it and the PH does his best to make it happen...but things don't always go according to plan out in the African bush. For some, their dream trip turns into a nightmare and they have legitimate complaints and issues they want to raise about their safari and rightly so. However, there is a correct way to complain, and in this impromptu episode where I record while out on the ranch, I discuss the right way to complain about your hunting safari.
Enjoy!

Ep 102: Tai Emery - The Real Benefits Of Hunting In Africa
Monday Nov 03, 2025
Monday Nov 03, 2025
My guest on today's podcast is Tai Emery, is a current bare knuckle fighter, power slap competitor and former Legends Football League player. Tai may not fit the mould of your traditional trophy hunter, but a recent trip to the Eastern Cape of South Africa opened her eyes to real benefits that hunting can bring to local communities.
Tai and I had a great chat, and she shared some stories from her time in South Africa as well as the importance of educating some of her fellow fighters in just how beneficial hunting can really be.
Hope you enjoy the episode, make sure to give Tai a follow on her social media platforms, she is doing a great job in getting the good word about hunting out to the masses.
Enjoy!
