I have run hunts in Africa and I have run hunts in Texas. One would assume they are the same, but in reality they are vastly different.
In this episode, I share some insight into what it was like prepping for a hunt here in Texas versus how we would prepare for a hunt back in South Africa. I talk about the new aspects of hunting in Texas I had to learn, such as blind and feeder placement, the correct judging of Whitetail age and how to go to war with wasps!
Enjoy and Merry Christmas to you all.

Ep 104: Travis Barnes - Taking My Daughters To Hunt In Africa
Thursday Nov 13, 2025
Thursday Nov 13, 2025
I really enjoyed having a chat with Travis from Georgia on this episode, for two reasons. The first being, he hunted in the same area of South Africa where I had hunted many times with clients and also a youngster. So it was great hearing the perspective of another hunter about an area I hold closely.
The second reason being, Travis took his two daughters with him on his first African safari and by the sounds of his stories and the admiration coming from him as a father, those girls had a literal blast.
I hope you enjoy this episode and if you do, then take a couple seconds to leave a rating and review. Much appreciated!
If you would like to reach out to Travis to ask him any questions about his trip, then you can do so right here: travisb302@yahoo.com

Ep 103: Complain The Right Way
Thursday Nov 06, 2025
Thursday Nov 06, 2025
**NOTE** The audio is a little fuzzy at the start of the episode, give it some time as it does come right. I was using my mobile speaker on the ranch and got a little static from it.
Everyone hopes and expects their dream hunting safari to run smoothly. The client expects it, the outfitter hopes for it and the PH does his best to make it happen...but things don't always go according to plan out in the African bush. For some, their dream trip turns into a nightmare and they have legitimate complaints and issues they want to raise about their safari and rightly so. However, there is a correct way to complain, and in this impromptu episode where I record while out on the ranch, I discuss the right way to complain about your hunting safari.
Enjoy!

Ep 102: Tai Emery - The Real Benefits Of Hunting In Africa
Monday Nov 03, 2025
Monday Nov 03, 2025
My guest on today's podcast is Tai Emery, is a current bare knuckle fighter, power slap competitor and former Legends Football League player. Tai may not fit the mould of your traditional trophy hunter, but a recent trip to the Eastern Cape of South Africa opened her eyes to real benefits that hunting can bring to local communities.
Tai and I had a great chat, and she shared some stories from her time in South Africa as well as the importance of educating some of her fellow fighters in just how beneficial hunting can really be.
Hope you enjoy the episode, make sure to give Tai a follow on her social media platforms, she is doing a great job in getting the good word about hunting out to the masses.
Enjoy!

Ep 101: Buffalo Scrum Cap Story
Saturday Oct 25, 2025
Saturday Oct 25, 2025
You often hear from people that going on a hunting safari is a trip of a lifetime, and it certainly is, but what you rarely hear from people is that they got a once in a lifetime trophy!
This story recaps that exact trophy, a true once in a lifetime trophy.
**NOTE**
I did mention in the intro of episode that there is a video of this particular hunt, well I was unaware at the time that the video has not yet been released. So, I would suggest following the link to the This Is Africa TV YouTube channel and I am sure they will release the video soon.

Ep 99: Pesky Agents
Tuesday Oct 14, 2025
Tuesday Oct 14, 2025
If you are a hunting Outfitter that operates not only in South Africa, but anywhere in Africa, then you will agree with this statement. "There is always someone out their looking to take their slice of your cake"
In this episode, I talk about some of my experiences with agents, reps, wanna be agents and some just down right sneaky dirty lying agents.
If you want to hear more of these stories, then reach out to me or leave your request as a comment on Spotify or a rating on Apple Podcasts.

Thursday Oct 09, 2025
My guest on the latest episode is Devin from Kansas City and we had a great chat, covering all sorts of topics from how he chose his outfitter, bringing over your own rifle, the importance of not sticking to a list, trusting yourself to pull of a quick 'hail Mary' shot, plus Devin gave some fantastic advice for those planning their first trip to Africa.
If you are enjoying these episodes and getting some value out of them, then do me a massive favour and take a few seconds to leave a review and rating on Apple podcasts and Spotify. Thanks!

Ep 97: Stuart & Kayla - Hunting Together In South Africa
Wednesday Sep 24, 2025
Wednesday Sep 24, 2025
Easily one of the more frequent questions I was asked when booking hunts for clients, was "Can I bring my spouse and what will they do?" It is a fair question and while I would list off numerous non-hunting activities they could do, I knew deep down that 95% of the time the significant other would tag along on the hunts and have the time of their life.
In this episode we get to dive in a little deeper to this scenario as I am joined by Stuart and Kayla from Missouri, who recently returned from a hunting trip to South Africa. Now while Kayla didn't hunt on this trip...she did admit that she wouldn't be missing out on the chance to pull the trigger on their next safari.
Enjoy and please remember to rate and review this podcast.
